SUMMER THEATER PROGRAMS
For over 35 years, the Council has enjoyed a partnership with the Port Chester Recreation Department. The groups have collaborated to produce some of the highest quality community theater productions in our County.
The Port Chester Children’s Theater, in existence for over 35 years, is one of the longest continuously-running programs of its type in the area, possibly in the State of New York.
During the summer of 2011, three full-length musical productions with our LawnChair Theater production of “Shakespeare in the Park” were presented: “Company", "Bye, Bye Birdie" and "Seussical, Jr.” were the musicals and “As You LIke It” followed in three local parks and concluded in the Girl Scout House in Port Chester's Lyon Park. Last year, "Pennywise Productions" revived our Winter Musical Theater Workshop which is designed to mimic a summer stock experience with their production of "Once On This Island", which involved over 20 local young people. Over 300 local residents and 2500 audience members enjoyed the 2011 summer and winter workshop productions. Auditions for the productions are announced in the local press.
All auditions are open to the general public.
